Bouldering in Austria??
March 09, 2004, 11:59:21 am
I'm off to Vienna for a few days with work and have 3 days or so hols. Anyone know of good bouldering near Vienna. Would be OK to go to Salzburg as well (Zillertal, Maltatal).

Problem is can't find many directions / topos to anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Andy, the only topo for Austria i've seen on the web is for Berchtesgadener, thats Loskotts Blue Ice area, you can find that at
http://www.nadventure.com/topos/blaueis.html. Sounds a bit epic to get too though.

erm, sam

It is a wicked place, worth the 2 hour or what ever it is up hill walk. But I wouldn't go there without pads and spotters. It is a mission to get to all the bouldering across the scree and the landings are generally terrible.
It would not  be my destination of choice for a quick visit.
I haven't gone to the other Austrian spots such as Maltalal or what have you, and have had difficulty finding topos as well. Good luck.
