March 03, 2011, 01:57:05 pm
Hi everyone, the Dame Jouanne restaurant has open again ! cool.
Same opening days than previously, so thursday to monday, and the menu looks rather similar to what it was.
I am going there sunday evening to test it and will all let you know !
Cheers, Stef.

Ok, been last night with my family.
They have defenetly kept the spirit on how it was in the good old days.
Actually, the decoration is nicer, the settings of the table are the same, and there is kinda of big stove instead of the open fire.
Toilets are also very clean and nice. Wasn't so hard to do better than it was though !
Food. the menu, now 25.50euros instead of the former 23, is at least a third less to eat. No cheese plate, no green salad. we could easily count the fries on the fingers of 2 hands in my son's plate. Pudings were good, but half the size at it was. Portions are defenetly a lot smaller. And they charge you for a little more.
They even charged us for extra puddings as they were included in the menu. But I checked and they felt sorry.
Wine list is nice. Offers variety at good price. Leffe is still there, plus a couple of other good ones.
Service was ok, not more than ok.
Finally, I can still recommand the place as its atmosphere, location, and spirit is still unique and will always deserve a visit !
Good luck to them all for the future.

not really a glowing report there stef

  To say the least!

I don't know if something's lost in translation but I found it quite amusing that after saying the prices have gone up, you get fewer courses, the portions are smaller, they fuck the orders up and the service isn't very good stef said.....

Finally, I can still recommand the place

 :)

Yes, I can still recomand the place thanks to its location and state of mind that is just unique.
On top of it, it is open sundays, but maybe you are right, I may react from the old good days...
it however defenetly is not the same.
Seems someone has delicate belly ? ahahaha !! no, for sure, and especially for the last 3 to 4 months they were open, the quality went down like super depp, so unfortunatly, your story sounds familiar if it was at this period.
I've been hundreds of times, for almost 20 years, I have sent so many poeple for 10 years and never had any worries.
We might have feed back from "outsiders" soon as the season gets real busy everywhere and that poeple start to know it is open again.

Well I do have a delicate constitution. It was always decent when I've been in the past, but it would be a shame if they'd ditched a lot of the stuff like the cheese plate, and if the portions were smaller. There's always Buffalo Grill. Every cloud...

There's a really nice bar 'round the corner from me that I refuse to set foot in 'cos they only have that on tap. Disgraceful beer!

It's France, what the fuck do you expect?

Once asked in DJ: Qu'est que vous avez pour les vegetariens?
A:  "Rien!"

I look forward to getting back there for some more of that unique French culture.
