Hi,

Headed to milton of buchanan for a few days this coming week (Tues-Fri) with my family plus my climbing partner and his family.

Just wondering if much of dumbarton rock or any good nearby crags are or will be in good condition?

Not been down, but I'd guess dumby should be ok next week as it's due to be fairly dry - it's always quick drying in a breeze.

Dumby was covered in snow last week like errr the rest of the UK, although the steep faces were still dry. No idea what it's like now after the big thaw but as Fulto says it's quick drying and faces all directions so there is likely to be something climbable. Have had 2 decent clear days here too.

Other venues are less well used so might not be in as good condition. Restil and Butterbridge might be okay as might Loch Sloy. Glen Croe probably too sheltered. Lednock might be okay but a bit of a walk now. Craigmore will be bogging, there was nuff snow above it. Craigmaddie I'm not sure. Galloway stuff will be completely dry and probably boiling hot.

Looked pretty snow free when I drove past this morning.
Beinn Ime and Ben Vane weren't massively snowy when I was up them yesterday., although a lot of the boulders were damp (but not snowy).  May dry if conditions allow.

Probably worth a look, there may be some dry rock.

Not been for a few weeks.

Most of the snow has gone now and it hasn't rained for a few days so I reckon there will definitely be something to do. It's very quick drying.

Went down pretty early this morning before heading home, everything was dry but the fact it was about -3 meant i couldnt feel most of the holds properly..

Nothing there to feel, no friction or owt.

I mean that my fingers were numb, then when you get on a problem the cold rock makes them even more numb meaning you get no feel through them. Dont patronise me

yeah  , its hard to tell when something is meant with a bit of humour over a forum, in fact i've offended quite a few friends by trying to joke with them over t'net.

lovely and dry. even pongo and the sufferance wall are dry.
