kid's gloves
January 26, 2011, 10:08:03 pm
My daughters 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 love coming out climbing, but the normal (rubbish) next, MandS style gloves and mitts mean they have cold hands really quickly. Wish list would be warm, windproof, a bit waterproof and importantly don't come off.  Anyone got any recommendations for gloves for little kids?

We have a pair of fleece lined waterproof?? mittens for our sprog, similar to the "snowflake" mitten. From a car-boot I recall.

Lots of these look good.

Spotty Otter are supposed to be good but pricey.

We got some of the Spotty Otter ones either top left or right (right I think) from little trekkers when they are were on sale. Really good, and can be velcroed down to stop them being removed.

Buffalo mitts are the business, and they go down to kids sizes, I would hope the kids sizes might be slightly cheaper than the ~£20 for the adults sizes, might be worth ringing them up direct?

To keep them on you can either cinch the velcro strap tight, or alternatively put a small hole in the velcro strap (seal using a lighter) and then you can attach cord/elastic to create either wrist loops (good for not dropping your gloves when mountaineering) or attach both to a longer piece of cord and thread through coat sleeves for an even more drop proof solution.

Decathalon do ski mitts and gloves,  the mitts should go down small enough for the little one.

They have an elastic loop on them so if you have attachmant point on their coats then all sorted, if not then a further piece of elastic threaded through the arms and then attached to the loops will do or a nappy saftey pin would suffice.

Oh and being decath it won't break the bank.  BKB Jr has had a pair from decath most years and they have been excellent. Decath is definately a good place for littleone warm colothes that don't break the bank.
