Speed reading made easy

Couldn't remember the name of it so Googled what I thought it was... Squirtz.  :o

For your info it's SPRITZ, and definitely not SQUIRTZ! (which for the curious is definitely NSFW)

Would you know what to do if someone needed CPR?

(CPR == CardioPulmonary Resuscitation)

Not an app but did anyone see the 'auto-pulse' bit of kit on one of those med progs last night? Seriously impressive bit of tech. Wonder if you'll see an easy to use version in supermarkets etc like defibs in the future?

It hasn't though as JuiceSSH  is closed source unlike Irssi.

every time we do CPR refreshers at work we try to think of suitable songs/tunes with the right bpm for the compressions

latest advice was ~110 bpm

my choice is Rick Astley "never gonna give you up"

the chorus from "staying alive" was popular last year

(I know that there are DJ resources listing tracks by bpm, but that would take the fun out of the game)

that is very good and worthwhile.  It did make me think though, there's potential for a step-by-step App to use in a real emergency, i.e. open airway, check for breathing and so on..   guess one probably exists?

"Damn, wheres my phone"
*pats-self down*

"Ah there it is, fucking lock, why aren't you recognising my pattern?"

"Damn, why didn't I place a short-cut to that CPR app on my desktop, oh well into the Applications....."

"Ooops, sorry, didn't mean to take a picture, but once I've found this app I'll send it to you so you can Tweet it"

"Hang on mate, just looking for that app.  Now what was it called again?"

*slide* *slide* *slide*

"Ah there it is, now let me see...."

Sarcasm aside, you generally need to respond/act pretty quickly in these situations and not be fucking around looking for and then reading an application.  If you don't know then you use your phone to call an ambulance and start trying to find someone who does know what to do.

Ok scrap that idea then..  :sorry: Slackline..

I was just thinking of something similar to the flip cards we have for use on the lifeboat, you should know what to do back to front but in a very stressful situation it can be good to have a guide to make sure you haven't missed anything and most people have a phone with them most of the time..

perhaps a more general app would be helpful then for general diagnosis and 'what to do' of serious conditions, heart attack, stroke, etc..

Sorry for the sarcasm.

Teaching emergency first aid in schools and regularly updating training in the workplace/free classes would, in the longer term, be more beneficial to society.

Having got a couple of Chromecasts the other week to make upstairs TVs more functional (and they're great for that, they really do "Just workTM" even my wife set it up and uses it no problem from phone/tablet) I'm going to give AutoCast a go which integrates casting into Tasker.

Google have bought Word Lens and made it free on both iOS and Android. Possibly for a limited time according to reports.

But free version only gives you reversed text! You have to pay to UL a dictionary...

In other App news I downloaded Uber last night (as it now works in Manchester) - looks slick!

Uber looks really good... though not too many cabs in Manc have it now judging by there only being a few cabs circling on their map. I like the way you pay for your journey via the app and can work out how much it will be etc... Not surprised the black cabs are up in arms about it...

Interestingly in Hull (not seen it elsewhere but probably is) no cab companies have boxes or radios - all the drivers use an andriod app instead to tell them where the next pick up is etc... Its great from the customer end as when you order a cab they text you a confirmation and a link - where you can click and see on google maps where you cab is etc.. and track its journey to you..

Can't find the remote for one of my TVs (Sharp) IR Remote Control works fine on Samsung S4 GT-i9505g as a replacement.
