Selling guidebooks via web - best approach?
January 06, 2011, 01:39:28 pm
I have just sent my guide to the printers and plan to sell it via my website. Whats the best (easiest for both parties, cheapest, safest) way to do this? Paypal seems good if a little pricey (1.9% - 3.4% + €0.35 EUR). Any suggestions?

No idea whats best as I've never sold stuff over the net (bar a few fleaBay sales which I used PayPal for), but  for the imminent guide.

Might be worth asking BenP about the setup he uses for Slackjaw or Unclesomebody about his experience with Between the Trees and/or cofe about Vertebrate's approach  :-[.

we still use paypal Dave, for the books we sell direct, as I think it's still easier, and competitive price-wise, with us getting a merchant account, or something like Sagepay (formerly Protx). people tend to trust paypal too, as they've used it for ebay and the like, although it's not perfect.

From a punters view point (in both climbing and retail versions of the word) I hate dont use PayPal and prefer regular debit/credit card methods...
