Minimum height woody
January 09, 2011, 10:45:47 pm
I'd love to buildma woody but my basement is only head height (just!) Whats the minimum height you reckon for a woody? Obviously i could have one but is it worth it as the angle would be ridiculously steep and therefore not hugely climbable to be worth it?

Cheers
Matt

What you have there is a traditional cellar. 8ft ply sheets at 45oish plus a 1ft kickboard. Get it built.

the maths is that 8ft at 45 deg takes up 5.65ft and then add the kickboard of 1ft - 6'8" total  - if your cellar is 6 ft high then do 50 deg plus 1 ft kick.

you could always have a tiny kickboard....

One or two old mattresses underneath completes the deal

yes it is worth it

Ill try n link to vid on my facebook that is my cellar. Its about 6'6" high, 55-60ish deg, 13 foot wide x 12 foot high with 20" kick board. Had it for 3 years and still use it regularily so it was well worth building. 55-60 is steep like, but with a big kicker it takes some of that off & it make sthe board seem bigger.

Do it.  :goodidea:

Cheers for the info guys. Video doesn't work. Any screenshot you could paste in?

I read that 45 degree wasn't that great to train on unless uber-wad as you can't get away with small holds. But i suppose its better than nowt. I'll have a think if i can justify it seen as i live very close to Depot and don't use that as much as i should.
