You do realise that's cheating... Right?
And, No, it doesn't count for the tick, even if you do "sit" on the ladder...

A mate has one, but he's gone back to using his old wooden ladder if there is any sort of walk in because the telescopic one is heavy. I think there are lighter versions, but that Aldi one says 150kg...

Eh I think 150kg is the max load not the weight. Otherwise I don't think even Nalle would be carrying it far.

I have seen others that stow smaller.
Problem (?) with that one (the Aldi one) is it's not a step ladder, so it'd be a prop against the rock job.
Might not be so useful for roofs.
Used a few before at work and they usually weigh around 20-30kg (depending on length).

Duh. You're right, wasn't paying attention there.

Mate definitely said weight was an issue with his, but it was great when he was roadside cragging and wanted to save space.

Screwfix and Maplin sell them too,  generally weigh around 11 kg. I've been hoping for a while to get a site inspection where I can justify getting a set on expenses. For some reason work aren't impressed with their usefulness for Crag-Y-Longridge.

I once saw someone (Micky Page I think) working Cypher with a stepladder; now there's dedication, it's a steep slog to the Slipstones.

They are heavy. A cheaper and lighter alternative is an alloy step ladder. Generally the cheaper they are the lighter they are. Mine cost about £15 I think and weighs very little. Obviously it’s bigger to transport (no prob for van people) and carry in. That said, it only sticks out the top of my big Moon pad by about a foot. Very useful on some problems.

We use them at work all the time and they are pretty heavy and a ball ache to pack up.

They do however fit in the boot of a mini!

I'm in need of a ladder for loft access and thought I may as well get one I could take climbing.

Any recommendations?

That's what I use now - its lighter and more useful for cheating.

I've got a standard 3 part foldaway loft ladder you have for nowt, leaving you free to buy your ladder of choice for cheating.

(seriously - its up for grabs if you want it)

Besides the portable fan has to fit in somewhere...

What's wrong with a few weather balloons tied to your chalkbag?
