This is not good... It seems to be really kicking off in Egypt right now - with two rival mobs engaged in pitched battles in the Square. Its pretty grim viewing... mob rule, guy gets left behind, beaten (presumably to death) etc.. For those of you with an interest I'd switch on Sky news now...
I'm not sure I'm going to watch any more.

Funny how the demonstration was mainly peaceful until the "pro Mubarek" crew turned up. Now full scale fighting, foreign journalists being attacked etc. How come he suddenly has a load of supporters......?

Really grim viewing - its like two groups of school kids having a big stone fight.. then one group charges and the others retreat. Then you remember that they are not kids, and the guys who trip up, get left behind and consumed by the opposing side are probably not just getting a clip round the ear but beaten to death.

Sky reporters are shit scared by the sounds of things.. sporadic gunfire... army sat watching...
In my view its a clever (but devious) move by Mubarak - by creating an anarchy through his rent-a-mob he creates a need for order and his regime..

one of my friends went out there for a year to work for a company quantity surveying.  He managed to get to the embassy and today is on a flight to paris.  Some of the stories that will come from living there might be different to the news mind

Huge protests in Cairo again today - yet its starting to look like Mubarak is going to weather the storm... reports of the police and army starting to round people up and beat/torture them again (aka normal service)...
