Hoping for some coastal ice to come in up here! Been a while since it has, but I think not prolonged enough cold.

How's it shaping up there so far? Underwhelming so far here, but i will optimistically stick board and boots in the van tomorrow. Assuming i can actually get to work and schools aren't closed...

Pretty sure JB's done that?? Maybe the last time when there was some proper drifts.

Oh be in no doubt. There will be a lot of snow up there at the minute. And there’s no imminent thaw forecast.

Whether that means a repeat of 2010 I’m no expert.

Snowing heavily in S11, don't think I'm getting my car of my street anytime soon as it currently looks like a ski slope. Might have to lower it down with a bit of old rope.

I'd say there was enough snow down now to form big drifts, so long as it stays cold and windy for a while, which looks likely. The snow I've seen blowing around outside the window looks pretty mobile

Looking a lot more promising today! The big streamer this morning went a bit to the south, so may have missed Burbage and Stanage. The elevation difference of these above the other southern edges has been key in the past, but may not matter so much in these temps. I can think of a couple of good candidates at Curbar - White Lines anyone?

Any updates on snow conditions out in the peak? Suitable for platform building? Was thinking of heading out to burbage for a look later today or tomorrow morning.

I'd be keen to get out tomorrow if anyone else is, not heard much about road conditions, I'm guessing treacherous.

I tried to drive up to Foxhouse yesterday for a look, but couldn't get past Owler Bar due to drifting across the uphill bend. I dare say it's better today though.

Ringinglow Rd to Burbage North is fine in a Yaris with all weather tyres.
There's not much snow around Burbage really. Some local drifts here and there.
There is dry rock as the wind is fierce and blown a lot of snow away.
Maybe better snowballing opportunities elsewhere.

I drove from Ringinlow past Burbage and down to the plantation. Road was ok - snow on surface down the hill to popular end. From plantation I tried to go the back way to Hathersage but there were some huge drifts (and a stuck snowplough!) so I turned round at went the normal way down to Hathersage. I didn't try going back up the road to Burbage as I had no reason to - it's prob slippy but you can always cont. down to Hathersage.

Plenty of snow around Stanage, wind seems to be a bit different to prev. years, more diagonal across the edge so looks less good for drifts in the normal places (I didn't spot anything beneath Black Car which has had a fair bit in past even before shovelling) but it might mean some other stuff does have big drifts. Lot of the rock was also covered in snow at the moment.

Went to the Millstone arête proj. yesterday - bone dry and looks mega. No huge drift below it but with a few people shovelling could be good and would turn from an E8/9 with awful landing to a highball 8A or something, Lawrencefield Wall? Maybe Burb North and South have decent snow quantities. Heard there was a lot of snow at Gardoms and with these cold temps there could be lots of new options on the lower more southern edges.

I am sure people are all waiting to hear about the 1 true snowball concept route but unfortunately 'Nine is Enough' is not in nick.

Walked along Burbage valley from Fox House this morning. Road to Fox House fine but limitted parking. No real drifts at Burbage South or North, just a few inches of quite soft snow. Burbage West, Higgar, Carl Walk, Mother Cap all look quite snow free and dry, but in the bitterly cold wind. Nathan reports snowballing at Curbar "looks pretty limited"

Something a little left field...

Drove past leek today and there was a shit ton of drifted snow along the a52 and a523, roaches, ramshaw etc. Could be worth a look. Really windy so will definitely need to look for things in the lee side.

Main roads were snowy but passable, getting to the edges.may be more challenging.

Andi Turner said on FB that he was going to check potential on the Skyline tomorrow. I'll update if he reports back.

Some quite big drifts (up to 3ft) on top of gardoms today but not sure they would be of any use for snowballing.
