Margalef Accomodation Suggestions Please.
November 09, 2010, 08:43:50 pm
Hi

Four of us are off to Margalef in early December for a week. Was wondering if anyone might know/ have any recommendations of apartments/houses etc... for rent?

Any info is much appreciated.

Cheers Dave

There is the refugio in town. Though booking might be tricky if you don't speak Spanish.

Cheers, we have decided to go with the refugio. Google failed to come up with anything else. (well 5 mins of searching on Google!) So we got our native spanish speaker Senor Maskill to book the refugio.

Thanks anyway Dave

Or there's the hotel at the bottom of the road that leads up to Finnestra, given the price of a 5 course meal for 2 I don't think the rooms would be very expensive and the Refuggio seemed pricey (in comparison to others).

Slightly of topic but has anyone stayed in that studio cornadella? Does anyone have any accommodation recommendations in the Siurana/ Cornadella area, other than Camping Siurana?

There is a nice shared B+B type guesthouse in Cornudella itself at 25 Euro/person/night (and you can usually make your lunch from Breakfast). http://www.calgiral.com. Our team was due to stay there but we got bumped to the other place (Cal Giral2) which is OK too but no breakfast provided so a bit cheaper. The refugio in Cornudella provides cheap basic evening meals.

Looking at the Climb in Spain website the Cal Giral accommodation is also featured. "Siurana – Cornudella house" is Cal Giral1 and "Siurana – Studio Cornudella" is Cal Giral2.

Pär Lindholm at Climb in Spain was really helpful in sorting accommodation when I went to Tres Ponts and stayed at Casa Organya earlier this year so probably best to go through him as the price looks the same. Lots of good topo info on his website too.
