Reticent heroism
September 30, 2010, 11:52:21 pm
Word on the Street is that the car lifting crusher from Blackpool repeated 'At the heart of it all' a few weeks back.

 :jaw:

Heard it from two separate sources, but he didn't mention it when i bumped into him last week. Though as Tom Jones said 'It's not unusual!'

Heard this from the Aaronator about a month ago. He said the Blackpool beast had 'mentioned it in passing, as if it wasn't a big thing'  :jaw:

Is there any news going on or just a list of obtuse clique nicknames and "heard this heard that"??

The most significant repeat by far, awesome.  Shouldn't be hidden in here have we got a big news thread?

Not  if this is the only way to get news so be it, its not like you don't know who they are talking about.

I was  at the whole cloak and dagger/word on the street/blackpool car-jacker, aspect not the fact that "someone" has made a significant repeat.

Its been discussed and done to death before with regards to people not wanting to publicise their own activities so I'm not keen to start it all again, but thought its perhaps worth considering that given the new overlords and the desire to turn a bit of a profit from the site, that whilst the finer details are decipherable by regulars/those "in the scene" (for want of a better phrase), they are quite indecipherable to anyone coming across the site afresh.  In turn they'll dismiss this important news and perhaps not bother coming back to the site.  Whilst actual page views don't generate revenue, having more regular viewers increases the likelihood of revenue from click-throughs.

Sam has never wanted any things he's done being spread about and he doesn't like stuff going online.  He wasnt hugely happy with the attention he got from Kaizen and Texas Sitter.  He just does stuff cos he wants to.

Well if he doesn't want the stuff going online, surely as his mates you shouldn't mention it at all?

Anyhoo, nice one good effort.

I don't.
And It would only be a nice effort if it were to be officially confirmed.

He has never said to me don't tell anyone. I also feel that repeats of high end stuff should go reported. Though i can also see Sam's point.

I didn't meant you as in you specifically GCW, I meant you as a collective you.

Adam, they aren't really being reported though are they? Just mentioned cryptically, which then gets picked up on by another channel and next thing it's all over the front page.

No idea either. Difference is that he doesn't mind his achievements being broadcast.

In this case it isn't confirmed, so all UKC can report is that someone heard from someone that At The Heart Of It All may, or may not, have been repeated.

I know what you mean Adam, if it had been done it would be the biggest news for a while.  But then he goes to reasonable lengths to keep quiet about it.  And Id hate it if he did things and then didn't mention it in passing for fear of it being splurged online.

Have you asked him? Like i said above, Sam has never said to keep stuff hush hush to me. I'll not mention it next time. Then everyone is happy.

I spoke to Sam on the rap rod this morning to double check what he thought of rumours online.

R-Man would know about Dawid, but as there's vids etc online I doubt he'd mind.

No I haven't asked him as I don't know him. But if I did know him then I would check with him first before "reporting" his achievements online.

Whilst I can respect people's right to privacy, when an ascent is of national significance it seems a bit off not to let people know about it. A bit like with the press and the whole "in the national interest" thing. For the timeline of the sport it's important that stuff like this is known. Isn't it? Oh I don't know.

Why should these underground beasts want to publicise what they've done to people they don't know?
If he wants to keep quiet then that's his call. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to hear about these crushfests, but if I don't I'll struggle bravely on.

It seems to me there are a lot more reasons to keep quiet than there are to go public.

Like what? Suppose I just don't get what the big deal is about people knowing stuff.
