Alpkit Filo Jacket - Carat

Just to warn you all that I intend to get an Alpkit Filo down jacket in their Carat colour as soon as they are available. Obviously this will have some bearing on what colours the rest of you will be wearing in The Peak this winter. You don't want to look like a member of Team Lagers now, do you?

I would find it acceptable if anyone wanted to wear either of these  8)

we have to take a stand against the predominance of black or blue down jackets

Hmmm they're all very nice Lagers ..... But I think I'll stick with my discreet tango orange down jacket for the the foreseeable future ....

Don't let you pets get frozen out of fashion this winter.

I ended up getting an XXL Filo in Chilli .

I might have to de-badge the fucker so my other sponsors don't kick off, but it's a fine jacket.

Arrived at my parent's house in UK yesterday to find my carat Filo waiting for me. It's very, erm, cheerful. Will be interested to see the reaction of Frau when I turn up at home with it in a few days. The Montane North Star I gave her for Christmas is certainly more conventionally tasteful.

How do the sizes compare to say a north face nuptse or something? I'm going to order myself a filo but want to get one that fits. Anyone got a comparison for me?

I can't comment specifically on North Face sizing, but I'm typically L in UK sizes (e.g. Montane) and M in stuff designed for obese Americans (Patagonia). I'm a little under six foot, 41 inch chest, just over 80 kilos, but quite long armed - ape index about + 1.5 inches.

I ordered an L Filo and it fits just about perfectly over a shirt and a light fleeece, including long enough arms. Probably wouldn't be roomy enough as a "throw over everything" mountaineering belay jacket, but that's not what it's for.
