split infinity cave
September 13, 2010, 09:45:13 pm
just watched a video on you tube with a problem on it from the split infinity cave and its given a 7a.  Its the problem which is almost out of the cave on the right hand side and has a couple of moves in the crack under the small over hang from sit start then upto a mono with rh and then climb up using the crack further up and upto a finish a little higher.  i managed to do this problem when i was there but im pretty sure im not capable of climbing at this grade yet and just wondered what the consensus on the grade was. i thought more like 6b but then i have quite a good reach so may be its easier for me to get the mono which is a slight lurch. hope this makes sense. the proper sequence would be nice to know too.

I don't know it but if it is Rock Bottom then it's listed as 7A here:

http://www.northwalesbouldering.com/upload/members/North%20Wales%20Limestone%207%20+%208%20table%20v7.pdf

here:

and as "V6" here whatever the fuck that means (broadly translates as 7A from Vague Grades):

 ;)

Doyle will know anyway.......

7A seemed fair to me - did you start on the left  at the start of Lickety Split sds?

It was originally done without the mono as an eliminate; this version is very hard.

All the info is in the Parisella's guide: http://www.groundupclimbing.com/newsitem.asp?nsid=232

thanks for the info. im pretty sure i started and finished in the right place but found once i had the mono the rest was ok. i may have just been having a good day without realising it. Ill take the 7a though, without the mono would be nails.
