Top 5 party tracks?
July 13, 2010, 02:30:14 pm
I have a decent playlist, but it needs freshening up. Mainstream, dancey, jolly, well known suggestioons welcome for a 30-50 crowd.

So far, I have things from Specials and rolling stones through martha and the muffins, iio, kylie, dandy warhols to darude, michael jackson and sophie ellis bextor.

well, you get the picture...any offers?

Well, yes. There are some good tracks there and that's a good starting point, bt I wouldn't necessarily want to dance to Simon and Garfunkel! More suggestions welcome.

Ditch Darude and Sophie Ellis Bexlog for a start.

10cc - Dreadlock Holiday
Jackson 5 - I want you back
Frankie Valli- Beggin (Pilooski re-edit)

And loads others I can't be bothered to remember.

Late into the mix but

Actually, sorry I just read the last sentence of the OP. Not too sure 30-50 year olds would be feeling this but you never know. Matt Donnelly's dad is all about the techno I'm told and he's 70s. Amazing.

Also, check this hilarious thing superfurry posted on facebook t'other day.

If you want typical 30-50 ladies to dance then you could do worse than include something from Dirty Dancing soundtrack, that always goes down a massive hit at weddings and functions.  A lot of 60s and 70s stuff is usually popular, Motown classics or ABBA.  Slightly more modern stuff like Michael Jackson (early stuff like Thriller, Billy Jean) or something from The Immaculate Collection by Madonna.  Summer of 69 by Brian Adams is always good too, although nobody will admit to it when sober, Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi has a similar effect.

I might stop now before I reveal just how much I love a dance to really awful music.

Don't stop believing by Journey too, it's very popular at the moment when a bit of cheese is required.
