how annoying was the uk commentator? He was talking rubbish half the time. The competitors are obviously utter beasts but the problems didn't show them off very well. >:( Disappointing!

Fourth place for Stew. Shame the comp came down to two problems as no one did the 2nd or 4th problems.

Who was the commentator?

We were watching it with the sound turned off and with worlds strongest man on telly (much better commentary esp when they're talking about special sticky climbing boots to improve traction etc.)

Oh, and good work Stew on a great result (apparently your shoulders are looking v good aswell, according to mrs rodma  ;) )

The commentator was the producer from the webcasting company and is not a climber. The organisers provided him with a local assistant but he wasn't very good. At  the debrief yesterday morning with the organisers, the web people and the IFSC all of this was talked over and they all know that this is one area that needs improving, and is an area that should be easy to improve.

Don't forget that Dave Garrans came 8th and was 1 of only 3 people to do the hardest problem in the semi.

According to 8a.pooh Dave Garrans came third in last years World Championships. He bears a striking physical similarity to Dave Barrans.

A pretty good weekend again for Brits in comps.

Stew placed 10th and Barrans 15th in Vail, whilst Shauna finished 6th and Ed Hamer 10th in the first youth comp of the year held in Austria.

The results in Vail put Stew up to 4th in the rankings, Dave is 14th.
