[Peak][Raven Tor][Weedfiller]
May 28, 2010, 09:03:33 am
Weedfiller extends Tumbleweed into Basher's Right Hand. It adds half a dozen or so very droppable (for me anyway) but good moves onto the original, which makes for a long problem. For my sequences it's about 40 moves, compared to 26 for Powerband, and about 42 for Staminaband.

Bashers Righthand is a seperate problem to Basher's, after the first move (off the undercuts). You head up and right from the break on Weedkiller using a little sidepull flake, a slopey pinch etc to finish out right above the break about a metre to a metre and a half right of the Basher's finishing jug. Bashers right hand on it's own is about two or three grades harder than Basher's on it's own.

Good effort, I enjoyed Tumble weed so I'll try this soon. 8A?

26 moves for Powerband? Blimey, that must include foot movements?

Nice one Andy! Bet the smaller holds a bit on the link.

We used the name Weedfiller last year, for the thing in between basher's and weedkiller. Not that it matters though.

Yes, that's hand and foot moves, using my sequences.

Bugger. Maybe Fumbleweed then.

Did this get named in the end? Did it today, felt a notch harder than tumbleweed since the end's a lot more fall-offable (and falling off the end with the original way happens all too easily). Does it sneak into 8A?

No, we decided that anything you can do defines the upper end of the 7c+ grade. Didn't you get the memo?

Get back to the Hick's building you part-timer. I'll think of you and Bob stuck in there while I'm in Spain this next year  :P

fuck the grade, the most important thing is that "lets get ready....." seems to have stuck.

Lets get ready to Rumbleweed seems to be popular enough to stick.

I thought the same as you grade wise, I didn't think it was a massive amount harder but given that Tumbleweed was considered top end 7c+ (or 8a by some people), I thought it was enough extra to push it over into 8a, but I heard second hand that Ru thought that it made no difference.

It depends on how you do the end I think. I did the end of Tumbleweed by finishing Bashers using the old method of getting the small crimp with my right hand. If you can use this small crimp on Basher's RH with your left (which is the way I always thought it was done) then finishing up that problem isn't much harder as it's only another move or so to get it with your other hand and not much harder to use it to move right to the jugs. This is how I finished LGRTRW and why I didn't think it added much.

Andy and Alex didn't use the small crimp and their method looks to add a few tricky moves and so could well be a notch harder than TW. So the question is whether LGRTRW (and/or Basher's RH) is an eliminate or not.

So you've used a harder eliminate sequence on Tumbleweed to judge whether there is any difference between that and LGRTRW?

 Anyway, that's how I did them both, and thems the grades I thought they were. I still think your method on LGRTRW is a good bit harder than the way I did it.

Well I can't argue with SCIENCE like that.

Let's hope the guide writer uses more scrupulous logic.

Oh shit.

Its lucky I don't just base the guidebook grade on my own opinions then. To make sure I get a consensus view I sometimes ask stu too.

Oh, well that's alright then.

But remember to knock at least one grade off Stu's opinions, just in case he's come up with an easier lanky sequence.
