Getting out of cities and into nature tends to make most people nicer.

It hasn't worked for me yet.  But then maybe spending my weekends grovelling around in shitholes like the Cave and Electric Quarry doesn't count as "getting into nature".

The climbers were loudly talking about other climbers (some pretty well known to everyone and themselves) and to put it bluntly saying some pretty offensive stuff, ranging from their own personal opinions of the climbers personalities their personal lives, climbing ethics and whether they made it into their own personal like or dislike club.

F%^&.  I thought that was the point of going to a popular crag.  Either you were strong enough to burn everyone off on their "projects" thus belittling them without having to say a word, or you slagged them off mercilessly while standing around at the base getting burned off.  Either way you get to feel superior to others, with the added benefit of having done it outside, which automatically gives you the upper hand on Monday in the office "how was your weekend?" game.

In the end you're a winner no matter what! :devil-smiley:

I liked the link above so much it inspired me to write a Haiku, which is a short Japanese poem

Summer sun, local crag
Unfamiliar faces
‘Fuckers’ I thought
