Targasonne with a kid?
May 12, 2010, 10:58:24 am
Recently started climbing again after a biiiiig lay off so a relative punter at the moment. However, off mountainbiking near Font Romeau this summer and am tempted to spend a bit of time at targasonne. So, couple of questions:
Is there much good stuff in the V4-5 range?
Is there much easy low stuff for kids to do?

Cheers

Not been but heading there this summer with our 2 year old.
Heard good reports that there is lots of stuff of all grades and good for kids to mill about

would be really kid friendly in terms of a place to chunter about but no kiddy type circuits like font and no soft sandy landings. If you go, the 'hutopia' campsite immediately east of font romeo would be great for kids. Pool, bar, restaurant and all that and walking distance for the town. Campsite at targassonne is lovely but nearish the road and more basic. Really beautiful place. Some nice days out too. A beautiful lake a bit north east that they do park and ride to.

The camp site in Targasonne also sells the guide if you don't have one, but it is a bit expensive. The E- Bloc Spain guide one has some  of the areas in it.

Targasonne had some nice stuff, flat landings and you should be ok with the kids. I  seem to recall reading about snakes in the area, but we didn't see any and I don't think there is anything too lairy.

I've been twice when we just had 2 kids. Even when the youngest was only 2 it was still a pretty good place to go. I'm rubbish at remembering the names of the sectors but there are at least 3 where the kids can play on flat grass while you climb
