...I was thinking of Font in the summer, but I'm guessing there's not much there that's doable for me?
I'm currently around the V4-5 level indoors with very little experience outdoors.

Any suggestions?

Ta.

Unless you're actually a foetus, you can and should go to font. It has excellent kiddies circuits, beginner circuits etc.

At your grade (or any really) you'll be able to have a brilliant time climbing circuits, and working problems that grab you. Nowhere better! Just make sure to be nice to the forest

Well obviously,

if not i'd be worried... Saying that, a cyborg would probably be climbing harder than v4 and wouldn't be worried about how warm it was.

On a more serious note, take a look at some of the recent topics on font, and note the importance of sweet wrappers, chalk and how you wipe your arse.

 ;D

I doubt there is anywhere on earth that's as good for novices as font.

yes, Font is THE place for everyone who wants to boulder. no matter age, level, style, etc.
And actually, summer can be really good too, as it will be dry, maybe too hot for the 8a sloppers, but that concerns not so many guys...

Agreed, and as Stef says the stuff you'll be climbing won't be so massively conditions dependant so going in summer when it's warmer will be fine.

Just be prepared to have to drop a grade or two to begin with, and for getting burnt off by small local children.

i think font is great in summer, you can sunbath between problems rather than freeze to death shivering under a downjacket. font isn't as conditionsy as grit either and you can still climb plenty of problems that aren't so conditions dependant simply because there are so many of them to choose from

Surely this is the case everywhere? An 8 year old girl just climbed 7c+, so i wouldn't worry about grades too much. It's a bit like nuclear warfare, it's definitely a problem, but worrying rarely helps...

it might be an idea to practice flat mantle top outs before going. You'll still be able to do loads of stuff in the summer, just be nice to the place and take home more litter than you produce!!

Sadly for me, yes, it is.  :'(  They don't need to be climbing 7c+ either.  ;D

There are two users of this forum that offer accomodation in Font.

Stef is one of them, Neil H is another (I've only stayed with the latter). Since the change of 'insect overlords' advertising is handled differently hence Stef's post.

I'm sure both would be worth looking into if you haven't already sorted where you're going to stay.

I suggest you ask both, as summer can be quite busy.
Neal is "maisonbleau" and I am "le clos du tertre", you can google it shows.
