I'm surprised there's not more of this shit that goes down given the sheer amount of visitors The Peak has to put up with. But yeah, it's horrible.

Disgraceful. They could have at least included the grade if they are going to go to the trouble of labelling their new problem.

Maybe the same ones who left a note there explaining that they had badly glued, and circled with chalk an unnecessary foothold which they had broken. Bloody Goths...

Unnecessary for you, but the only foothold a couple of mate's and quite a few other people use. It's not the most asthetic pieces of rock, the glued on hold doesn't look that bad.

(For the record, I neither used, broke or glued the hold but did see it on Sunday.)

Boulder problems, like everything, have a finite lifespan (but I'll leave that discussion for another time).

If it's been there since the weekend, the least they could have done is come back when the glue had dried, removed the excess glue around the hold, scrubbed the chalk and removed the note. If you're going to mess about with nature in a national park at least keep it low key.

I'm guessing the two broken holds which have been placed in the crack to the left of GW for safe keeping are next.

You might want to have a look around next time you're in the peak national park and see how many natural vs non natural things you see. If a non climber finds thenselves by GW it will most likely be to have a poo!

Julia and Lennart

Im banking on the sociologists because she turns out to be linked to/working at Nottingham university.

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sociology/stafflookup/emeritus/julia-evetts.aspx

and they have written a book together...
"2003 Conceptual and Comparative Studies of Continental and Anglo-American Professions (eds) with Lennart G. Svensson.. Goteborg Studies in Sociology No 129, Goteborg University. pp. 177."

Time to call in chief inspector twat from the ethics police?

Seriously though.  Its rather more than circumstantial evidence innit?  If the whole ofgoogle can only throw up two Julia and Linnarts, one pair in the Ukraine and the other 40 minutes or so away.

Someone needs to go round and  :rtfm:  John Craven?

I noticed a big piece of chipped graffiti in the same style (different names though) right below the Angel's Share slab at Black Rocks on Sunday: dead fresh. I know Black Rocks is covered in it, but I was pissed off to say the least to find it so close to a route.

Also saw the spraycan stuff at Rowtor on Saturday.  :(

Seems unlikely to me that a professor emeritus (normally given to famous, retired/semi-retired academics) would be associated with vandalism, a quick google throws up a site with a picture  http://www.hegesco.org/content/blogcategory/42/103/ make up your own mind but I am not convinced she is the culprit.
