Staden access threatened...
January 21, 2010, 12:51:21 pm
From UKC: http://www.ukclimbing.com/news/item.php?id=51399

Looks like High Peak Council are considering a planning app for business park etc in the quarry. BMC are aware. Damn shame if this happened. After Pleasley Vale, it's the only decent limestone in the Peaks.

Lucky its a quarry then.  ::)

You'd think a better place for industry shit would be in one of the recently quarried shitholes, not in a nice old quarry like this. The roads around that village are small enough as it is - i can't see local residents being happy with increased traffic, lorries etc.

I'd have thought Horseshoe had 'business park and water bottling bullshit' written all over it. it's not like there's any climbing there.

 I really like Staden, nice naturally protected lines on solid rock, would be a shame to loose them.

Yeah, there's some lovely routes there, especially the ones to the right.  Some have some nice little tufas if I remember rightly.  And in a nice setting too.  Surely we have enough damn bottled water in this country, whats wrong with tap water?  Its a luxury in many countries yet we spurn it to waste more resources on bottling the stuff...

Tap water is fine provided you've used your Accapi sleeve thing to energise it.

Ah right, thanks for that tip Jasper.  Reckon I may bash it three times on a bit of leather just to make sure though.

Don't. The water has memory, and will get you next time round.
