No way. The Kensington Blues album is truly incredible (thanks to JB for introducing me to it a few years ago).

RIP.

Shit, that's really tragic. I've seen a lot of live music over the years, but Jack was perhaps the most memorable for a whole load of reasons. Truly transcendent skills, maybe they took him up elsewhere...

Same here, the first time I saw him live was in little circular chapel off Deansgate.  They just dimmed the lighting, Jack lit a few candles in a circle then played. It was really beautiful and moving and so different to a normal live music experience.  Such a shame he's died so young....

The album that Jack recorded for Thrill Jockey last Autumn has been released this week. Luck in the Valley features his partners Mike Gangloff, Isaac Howell from Pelt and Glenn Jones and has a breadth of styles from old timey to psychedelic drone.  It's a mix of Kensington Blues, his work with the Black Twig Pickers and earlier solo albums and stands up as a posthumous testament to sadly missed talent.
