Our beloved Joskin, Dave Noden, has struck again.
Last week (Thursday) Dave took advantage of my being at work (thanks), and went onto Porth Ysgo to crush probably one of the most overlooked aretes down there.
A few years back, I climbed an 8a there (What it is to Burn, just left of Higginson Scar). This was basically a two/three move poweful, yet filthy affair on very minimal holds. However, there was an extended start to this, which myself and Dave, amongst others tried, but with very minimal (none!) upward projection.
Armed with bigger arms and more prowess, Dave has now climbed the line in full, and now I've gone public for him, will no doubt put some shots of it up on NWB pretty soon. The line is extrememly mint, and weighs in at a meaty 8a+. Well done that badger - keep em coming.
Just to leave you all with a thought on the word Joskin. A bit like 'Jon' and 'Gaskin' rolled into one. Maybe he derived from Ynys Mon, and if so, there is indeed something in the milk on this fair island. Chwarae Teg Nodder.
