Mexico chuffing beta
December 13, 2009, 01:09:39 pm
Gonna be in Mexico for about a month from early Jan- fly into Mexico City, head for Potrero Chico and then northwards into the States, likely via Baja Cali.

Found it a bit difficult getting much info on any where apart from El Potrero, anyone got any recommendations? A friend described the situation close to the US border as a bit fiesty in places...

Cheers!

The latest issue of Climbing (the US magazine, No. 281) has a feature on El Chonta (near Taxco).  It looks fantastic - a huge tufa and stalactite draped cave.

Larger climbing shops and Borders often stock the magazine if you want to read the article.

El Trono Blanco in the northern part of Baja California is fantastic if you like granite cragging. There are longer (1000ft plus) routes there too. A pretty well known place but its hard to find. Go over to SuperTopo and search there for the latest driving directions/ contacts. Was there 10 years ago and had the whole area to ourselves.
