Linux used in discovery of Higgs Boson

More interesting is dumb patent law-suit lost

Apple court case thrown out in the US too

Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end for dumb patents and innovation can resume instead wanking money away to lawyers.

"Being really annoyed is no reason to sue"

Really pleased about this. It was a fucking stupid move by Apple and as you say the only winners were always going to be the lawyers in the end.

Don't really understand why Apple are so scared anyway. However big Android's market share becomes (and however superior the products made by Samsung etc become) there are always going to be millions of Apple worshipers who'll spend whatever it takes to get the latest iThing.

Better to spend the money on more clever marketing than law suits.  ;)

More sense from UK courts over Apples attempt to sue/block the Samsung Galaxy Tab which is now [ulr=http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18773690] officially 'not cool'[/url]

I keep thinking of a naughty school kid having to stand up in front of the class and say it's sorry!

I've never quite seen the utility of Near Field Communication (or NFC for lovers of acronyms) and would be very circumspect of using it.

Seems that caution may be well founded

New Kindle Fire tablets, and now available in the UK (but not the bigger one). Kindle Paperwhite too, but not in UK.

Undercuts the Google tablet, and the new Kobo ones. Despite the huge amount of content, I don't think I'd want to be tied into Amazon.

Theres probably a way of de-amazonconfobulating it - though it may involve sticking half a coat hanger up its usb port whilst singing the US national anthem backwards, whilst balancing a jelly model of the Eiffel tower on a floppy paper plate in the other hand.

 :o

tomtom you'll have to get a new phone!

Quote
EE will offer several handsets to use with the service. Within the year, these will be Samsung's Galaxy S III LTE; HTC's One XL and Huawei's Ascend P1 LTE.

The company will also offer Nokia's Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 - the latter of which the company has as an exclusive deal.

The day after EE's launch, Apple is holding an event at which it is thought to be unveiling the next version of its iPhone.

This will also be able to handle 4G but it is not yet clear if it will work on the frequencies that EE's early services will use.

 ;)

Joking aside this is good. Although I'm in no rush so wont be desperately switching networks in order to get 4G asap. Better to wait until the other networks also have it so competition brings the prices down.

Indeed.. I like the look of the new Nokias, and I'm a bit bored of the icons/iOS/android approach...

Tiles == icons organised into a grid without space between them.

US Court of Appeal overturns ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone (the ban on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was overturned a few weeks ago).

At last the courts are starting to see sense.
