I'm not talking about AV because, like you said, that involves effort on the part of the user, I'm talking about a completly worry free, maintainance free service.

There we go a "completely worry free, maintenance free service"*, although as noted it doesn't address apps bought through unofficial market places, over which Google have no control and in my opinion should be avoided.

* Although in my "quirky" opinion updates are, and always will be worth doing, for the simple reason that no code is ever bug free and over time these get removed.  At the same time new features and functionality are added over time.  To keep the original software on a phone is to me myopic (even if it takes a while for the updates to filter from source, through manufacturers and finally the phone companies).

Xbox Kinnect cracked to work with PSe   8)

I was wondering when this would happen after Kinect was hacked pretty quickly to work under Linux and M$ said they'd open-source the code.

RSA get hacked

If the company lost the source code to it's SecurID system, it should be no big deal.

IF they lost their seed keys or the master seed key (if one exists) then they (and/or all SecurID users) are proper fucked.

C64 to rise again
they should put a blu-ray player in the old external floppy disk casing, but for authenticity they would have to make it buzz and click for about an hour before anything loaded.

It happens more often than you would think in this country but at least we have some sort of built in redundancy so any disruption is minimal from the end user POV at least.

I tend to look upon it as a justice of sorts in that while they are causing me some inconvenience and a whole lot more for British Rail and the guys who have to find the break and fix it at least they haven't gotten away with anything in real monetary terms.

I've known a few memory sticks go through the washer ok... when I'm next in work I'll take a pic of my fave.. its the plug, the bare circuit board then wrapped in old elastic bands for some 'protection' still goin' fine!
