Anyone reading my emails would be so bored. Unless they like the constant repetition of explaining to people what an annual return is and that Companies House is staffed by dicks.

Arouse NSA suspicions by referring to HMRC in complimentary terms....

Thats the sort of difficult question people pay accountants to sort out for you.

They wouldn't know. You only submit it to Companies House. ;)

crApple solder memory to motherboards to prevent upgrades and thus ensuring that the upgrade cycle is shortened, in turn increasing electronic waste.  :wank:

Had to happen sooner or later. Whatever they may say, how long before Windows Phone OS is dead and top of the range Nokias are all Android?  :goodidea:

NSA classes Linux Journal as an "extremist forum" and its readers get flagged for extra surveillance

 :wank:

UK "pr0n filters" block 1/5th of all websites

Check whether a site is being block using this site from Open Rights Group
Re the site blocking thing. Why are they even bothering with this crap? If you want to view a site that the isps have been forced to block it only takes five seconds to search for "how to view..." and er view it. You don't have to be some sort of hacker or even slackers.

E.g. the pirate bay "taken down" and blacklisted by every isp but still there and still very easily accessible from anywhere no matter which isp you use.

It's just stupid. Annoyingly stupid as governments are wasting huge amounts of money and time on this pointless nonsense. It's proper Canute stuff.

Cynically (or perhaps not) the only reason I can think of is that its a vote winner.

UK Government selects standard formats for electronic files.  PDF/A and HTML for viewing Government documents and ODF* for sharing or collaborating on documents  :2thumbsup:

* Stems from the StarOffice/OpenOffice/LibreOffice FOSS alternative to M$-Orifice and since its open is compatible with Google Docs (no idea how compatible it is with M$-Orifice, but if it encourages greater uptake of LibreOffice that can't be a bad thing).

The European Union could create damaging new regulations for how we share and collaborate online. Right now they’re considering proposals supported by powerful copyright industries to limit your ability to link, share videos, and to express yourself online.

Legislators are still trying to push through legislation that amounts to copyrighting links

Not only would this harm the ability to post pointless pictures, but it would have serious impacts on the original intent of the web that Tim Berners-Lee designed it for, sharing information.
