Has everyone watched the road race?

NSFW  :
I'm throwing it in here because I don't want to ruin anybody's Sunday highlights; amazing effort by Remco and 2, 3 for France!

Fuck me what a 1500m final. Kerr ran Ingebritsen into the ground but the American ran the absolutely perfect race. Quite funny that the Norwegian took the outside line to try and cut Kerr off and then got done on the inside.

Was a great race.

Kerr & Jacob spent too much effort shit talking eachother in the run up, fair play to Cole for getting the job done. 3 second pb & new Olympic record.

Incredible race. Just that the spotlight was on Kerr and Ingebritsen, but was won by a rank outsider. Seemed to me like Kerr did all he could to get ahead of Ingebritsen and had nothing left, he was so close to not getting silver too.  Glad IB got nothing, arrogant tw*t

Bit strong Chris. He's owning his mistake in the media today.
Agree it was a great race though.

Just because you hadn't heard of him, Hocker wasn't exactly a 'rank outsider ' he's been going great in the USA meetings.

Kerr and Ingebrigtsen are as bad & as arrogant as eachother, which is good for the sport. I look forward to more beef & great racing.

Def not a rank outsider, he was in the medal conversation for sure, but I don't think many expected him to get the gold. Seen a few who called it online but not widespread. Steve Cram is a not a shit judge of athletics and he was lost for words.

Yep, not having heard of either of them before, I thought Kerr came across as a total bellend in the BBC pre race montage stuff, in stark contrast to Hodgkinson.

Thats interesting, I really like Kerr! Brash and arrogant for sure but most top athletes are. Even Hodgkinson has that streak; she was very clear that she thought she was the best and if she turned up, she'd win.

He just had a load of patter about how cool he was wearing his sunglasses, seemed like a teenager trying to be edgy 😂

Everyone seemed to be saying that about Hodgkinson though, she seemed to be firm favourite

Fair enough not a rank outsider, but was seen by most as a two horse race.

Great race!

Kerr is not the most likeable but at least seems to own his behaviour.  Think it was a pretty decent race from him except for maybe not totally racing to the line after he was passed which almost lost him the silver.  He took a second off Mo Farahs British record in the Olympic final so hard to argue he did masses wrong.

OT, but anyone find the street skating a bit underwhelming compared to the park? I've never done or watched either, so not got a clue.

I mean getting a PB and British Record it's hard to argue he cocked up. Ingebrigtsen properly went for for Gold in and all or nothing effort, blew up and got nothing. Great to watch though!

Tough results for British women in 100m and 200m; 4th, then 4th and 5th. But competition fair stacked up against them.

Anyone watch the Kayak Cross?

New one on me, my son observed it looks like "the least serious olympic sport so far".  Worth a watch, esp if you don't know the results.

I enjoyed watching a few minutes of it. Not quite as much of a contact sport as boardercross, but reminiscent.

Yep, boardercross contact mild compared to ice cross though. That just looks outright bonkers.

For me, all eyes on K J-T as she goes into the second day of the heptathlon in the lead. The honorary Scouser in me would love to see her add the Olympics to double world championships.

As someone who rolls around a bowl at a very low level of proficiency, I know that all skating is harder than it looks. Street especially so.
The thing with normal street skating is that people spend all day trying to land  something tricky. In the Limpics they are supposed to try to land all of the tricky things, one after another.

Not saying it's easy, just visually not particularly impressive compared to the park stuff, where there was some amazing flowing riding. Impressed that they seem to generate the speed effortlessly.
