Manfrotto

They seem to have the most confusing model line-up known to man and their website is awful as well.

As I'm totally confused as to leg/heads combos, what do people recommend:

- light but not carbon as too spenny
- fast leg adjustment, ie not screws
- strong enough to hold a DSLR + a largish Tele
- can fold up pretty small for easy stowage

Haven't looked at the catalgoue recently, but classics are:

Legs - either 055 (good size but heavy) or 190 (smaller but more portable).

Head - ball 486RC2 or pan/ tilt 804RC2/ 480MG or video 390RC

what you want bubs is a 190 legs, i've got these, dynamite. A 386rc2 or whatever the current equivalent model is goes as a good combo. All built like a brick shithouse.

The only other things i've seen to rival this for value and quality is the giottos range. Now THERES a confusing model numbering system.

Bubba, I've got the 055 legs. You are welcome to borrow them for a play if you don't have time to get to the shops to have a feel of them.

Bubba, I've got the 055 big hairy legs. You are welcome to borrow them for a play if you don't have time to get to the shops to have a feel of them.

:)

I'll be watching ebay for 190s I think - like the sound of portability.

word bubs, check on the used section of Ffordes, they often have ex-demo/display manfrotto stock going piss cheap.

Just got this - as new, just a few wear marks - lovely bit of kit, recommended.
