Well, those climbing shoes are obviously quality items. I know all their properties, how they relate to the rock i climb, and the grade, comfort and edging/smearing ability i am after. Must rush out and buy a pair.

Unless there's some kind of backstory I'm not privvy to then there's too much made of that. Looked to me like she'd fully accepted the risk (having tied on in the first place) but was just balking at actually jumping off.  A bit like when people bottle the jump on Wings Of Unreason.
