Has anyone else had trouble with Canon customer services?
I am trying to get a wide angled lens hood for my WD H43 lens. Unc kindly sent me a link to
this but they want as much in P+P as it costs.
So I thought I'd ask Canon, knowing that the HX A1 hood fits. First e-mail I asked what hoods fit the WD H43 and thet replied thus:

We strongly recommend you contact a Canon authorised service facility as they may be able to supply you with a lens hood. If this is not the case, we suggest you search the internet for third party retailers. As you have probably ascertained, your product has developed a technical fault and will need to be looked at by a technician. A list of available repair centres can be obtained via the following link:

I've asked in a few shops but they need more info about the hood in order to price it etc. So after a bit more hunting I decided to ask again. This time I specifically asked for info on the replacement of an XH A1 hood. And this is the reply:

These smack of (semi-) automated replies which want me to phone a number I will no doubt be charged for. Surely it's a simple question as to what part number I need?
Or am I expecting too much?
