I'm underwhelmed. I love my iPhone for browsing and shit when I'm on the move and want to carry something in my pocket. I have a laptop for when I need to do proper stuff, I can honestly not think of a single occasion when this would be better suited than either of them. Maybe on the bog but surely thats why magazines are still in business?

generally, it is pretty underwhelming - they've ostensibly just brought out a version of what everyone one else is doing. but i reckon the books/publishing element shouldn't be underestimated with this thing. have already heard Amazon's Kindle referred to as the 'iSurrender'. I think Dan Brown's last book sold better on Kindle/digi than in hardcover. And it hardly sold badly.

When I'm at home and checking email/tweets/whats on TV etc.. or having a quick look at a web page I use the Ifern and in those circumstances it would be nice to have something like that but with a bigger screen. But you wouldnt catch me typing this message out on a touch screen keypad!

OK, so its good for watching something on iplayer in bed - but could you really see yourself pulling this out of your bag and having a read of the paper when you're rammed in with all the other sardines on the Tube?

Oh, and I don't think it does flash... so MrsTT would be very disappointed at not being able to play Farm/Cafe/Fishworld on facebook...

then saw the ad on the apple site., and got it. instant on email / internet & reviewing papers for work whilst mooching about the house.. no precious laptop (though I'm concerned about fragility in the zoo that I live in) to get knackered... no doubt I'll get one.

as with iphone.. may wait a year... I'm frankly gutted there is no USB 2, I cant even use my 3G dongle with it. I'll be buggered if I'm having 3 mobile subs to pay & I need the dongle for work. This is a massive omission IMO. If O2 get to be the carrier I hope they do a deal for existing iphone users, doubt it mind.

This seems to be one of Apple's key marketing strategies, release a sub-spec gadget that fanboi's grab 'cause they've got to have the latest and greatest iThing to snort their coke off.

A year later they then release the same product but with all of the spec that the original should have had, and they get the same people buying them again.

AND - it will only take the new 'micro-sim' card - not a regular one. So despite the fact it may be unlocked you still can't drop you're O2/3/Voda/Orange 3g data sim in it....

it's like the first gen iphone.. no good for europe.

if it aint got usb2, flash and cant open more  than one app at a time all it will perhaps be worth buying  a base level unit for use in the home for easy access to the web.

If it were presented as just a big itouch then we would all be happy - but his hype has now made apple look more than a bit shit.

apple need  to bring out a  netbook..... that's what would truly fill the gap, not a tablet.. they simply dont have a place.

yeah, but I have the normal 3 dongle on contract and the wandering about offices / in meetings all over the workplace mobility issue isnt really sorted. It's not a work tool - more just for pissing about on. A wasted opportunity imo.
