I haven't taken the time to ponder this one with due care and attention yet - and the past several months have seen my ears burn to the sound of whatever funk I could get out of the headphones.

However, I found this one rolling about in the automobile earlier today and it definitely makes it into my top ten:

Venetian Snares - 'Rossz csillag alatt született'

I've been trying to come up with something review like to say about this - essentially it's rather brooding orchestral samples - twisted around jungle breakbeats and formed into something quite astounding. Almost beyond description, so I'd suggest giving it a solid rinse.

Rinsed. it is good that.

Anyway, my recommendation:

Helios - Eingya

After hearing a remix by Stray of one fo the tunes on this album, I decided to buy it. It has a beautiful cover- a good start. Pop it in the CD player, sit back and let the audial tide wash over your toes dipping in the sea of atmospheric, ambient, pure and natural, earthy sounding electronica. I recommend this. Get it, got it? Good.

Had trouble just thinking of ten original albums from the decade that I like, spent most of the time on older stuff.

Anyway in no particular order, some of these I probably wouldn't rant about but still;

Discovery -Daft Punk

Funeral - Arcade Fire

Whatever.. - Arctic Monkeys

The Blueprint - Jay-Z

In Rainbows - Radiohead

Songs For The Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age

Give Up - The Postal Service

Drukqs - Aphex Twin

Madvillany - Doom

Mr Beast - Mogwai

All of their covers are similar IIRC - not sure if I have got that particular one but I certainly have at least one album and probably two by them at home - must dig it out and listen to it again.

Not sure how I managed to miss a concept album about John DeLorean but me and Raf have been listening to the Neon Neon album on Spotify this morning and it's very good. In fact Spotify is the best thing ever for checking out stuff off this thread that had passed me by.

I have a few suggestions,

Dukes of Nothing by Dukes of Nothing, a crystallised version of Motorhead, took them 17 minutes to achieve what Lemmy took thirty years to do.

Rancid-Rancid

Struggle to think of anything else, I think I'm lost in a 90's stoner-sludgecore world, without the beer and weed

Nice to meet you the other day!

Likewise - went back to the cliff again yesterday and tried a few more things - no wind and a bit of moisture in the air so less than perfect though definitely warmer!

This is on the record label i was talking about- see my ffffunky fresh beats post for more details!

I tend to be rather vague when it comes to record labels a lot of the time and just as much in general usually - it's part of my inimitable charm allegedly...  ;)

4 cd's I've bought recently:
both flight of the conchords albums
neon neon - stainless style
Miike Snow

neon neon let down by a bad album track or 2 but what do you expect with a concept album

Is there anything new to this version apart from the surround sound re-master? Is the normal audio the same as previous releases?

The Anniversary edition of Dark Side of the Moon.

It is suggestions like this that make me rethink my post arguing for re-releases to be up for inclusion.

We can now close this thread.

Why - it is much easier to just have the one thread where we can heap opprobrium by the bucketful on your music tastes.  ;)
