Ok, so I've got it in my list as a reissue.

If it really matters to you though, I will take it out.

Don't make offers like that Chris - I will have to remove the reissue of Spiritulized's Ladies and Gentlemen... from my selection if it gets taken up on.  ;)

I got one of the originals of these that came packaged up like a tablet, the CD was even in a plastic "popper" packet.  Only got the single CD version though, but would have loved to get the 12 CD version.

Must dig out some Spiritualized, cheers for the reminder.

So have I and the reissue (with extras) has been packaged the same way apparently.

Yeah, just checked and they've also re-issued the 12 x 3" CD's, but only 1000 and I can't be arsed getting the extra tracks (do I really need an acappella version of Ladies and Gentlemen, no).

Falling Down, FD's mate Dave, Johnny Brown and myself had the great pleasure of watching Spiritualized (plus gospel choir and string and horn sections) perform Ladies and Gentleman on Monday night. Very good it was too.

In no particular order:

Who Killed The Zutons? - The Zutons (Great!)

The Decline of British Sea Power - British Sea Power (plenty of personality)

Man of Aran - British Sea Power (Let it wash over you and think of deep, briny waters and towering cliffs rising out of them)

The Prodigal Son - Martin Simpson (Excellently assembled. All the big songs in it are beautiful)

Permission to Land - The Darkness (Power chords, tight cat suits, flamboyance and staggering gigs. What's not to love?)

Roll With You - Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves (The Satisfier!)

The Libertines - The Libertines (Cooooool)

A Certain Trigger - Maximo Park (Didn't think I would enjoy it but I was nicely surprised)

Just Enough Education to Perform - The Stereophonics (First band I saw live. It didn't disappoint)

The Bramble Briar - Martin Simpson (More delectable fretwork)

Of these the second, fourth, sixth and eighth are my favourites and the ones you should go and spend your money on then report back to me telling me what you thought.

That Maximo Park album is great but Just Enough Education.... is an interesting choice as I reckon it's the worst album The Stereophonics have done (and I think they're ok).

Agree. Not their best, but probably their best this decade.

And the obsession with the Darkness is unhealthy.

Otherwise good stuff.

Ernie Payne - Coercion Street
Sigur Ros - Takk

Are two that spring to mind that haven't been mentioned thus far.

Agree re: JEEP not being a highlight for the Stereophonics let alone the decade and putting the Darkness in a top ten of the decade is dangerously close to a puntering offence.

This is a much better album than JEEP. I should point out that the reason I'm an expert is that the Mrs is a fan (but even she admits that Mr Writer is a shockingly bad tune).

I prefer Just Enough.... to LSVO. Neither's a patch on Word Gets Around though and doesn't deserve to be mentioned as AotD.

Agree with Dave that artic monkeys is in.  Libertines also a great album.

Good call on Battles - I'd forgotten about that (how could i given how brilliant it was)

The Plant/Krauss album was excellent too

and there are about 4 or 5 tracks on Fever to Tell that I think are fantastic, but didn't really get the whole thing...

Strictly speak, 1979, but close enough.

So far I think there is exactly zero overlap between the albums on this thread and my choices  :)

Off topic I know but if you're going to get picky with Chris..

>So far I think there is exactly zero overlap between the albums on this thread and my choices  :)

That's 'cos you've got really quite narrow taste in music :kiss1: and why you think noise started with Merzbow  ;)

Cough, Cough, Cough,

HAH :P

I was just teasing, and lending support to his rebuttal of Schloper...

I have pretty broad taste in music BUT it's mostly in the relatively extreme spectra and doesn't really stray into normal stuff. I should really do a top ten too.

Ace...  :)

Now let's leave the noise otherwise I fear it'll drown out the marvellous suggestions thus far (although Kevin Drumm's Sheer Hellish Miasma should perhaps be on here?)
