Real Player on the web...
November 23, 2009, 01:43:10 pm
Ok,

so I'm not the most tech savvy, need some help here as I'm trying to get a wish / pysche list sorted for next spring off bleau.info

I've downloaded the most recent realplayer for mac... but I keep getting

Invalid protocol specified in URL. URLs should typically start with 'rtsp://', 'pnm://', or 'http://'

when I try to look at the real videos on the site...

er, can anyone help?

ta.

I'd be keen for an alternative to realplayer that works with firfox on bleau.info.

Installed real once and it annoyed me intensely.

For an alternative check out:

http://www.codecguide.com/about_real.htm

Don't know if they have a version for the mac - there is a firefox plugin though.

Real player is shite!

If i could actually get the damn URL off the site I could then convert via
MPEG Streamclip (awesome freeware have to say.. Perian software is the dogs)

But that's a hassle, and I'm just browsing about to find me a collection of 7as to wish for, so I dont know what I'm actually looking for... so getting the realplayer to bloody work would be damn useful

No probs..

Hope you get it sorted - I would uninstall, clear your browser cache, reboot and then re-install the player/plugin - you may have some corruption.

Computers are a pain in the arse most of the time.

There used to be an app called 'real player alternative'. Try googling that.

I hear you, though TBH it seems to be a site specific invalid filename issue.

Can you post a link of the video you are trying to play?

this is the page link

http://bleau.info/canard/661.html

issue is that the real player vids on the page dont have what is seen by the player on my laptop as a valid URL

I can view the real player video from that link fine. This would suggest that the problem is on your machine not the site?

EDIT: both real videos on that page.

this is a 14 day old macbook pro ( the new love of my life)
