Mc Clure 8c OS

here. He says maybe soft but it sounds pretty confirmed to me - surely if you get them they'll feel easy?

Effort anyway.

harder than his previous numerous 8b+ on sights, guidebook grade confirm, locals think it the grade Font 8a into hard roof moves, all combined with Steve's faux modesty confirms 8c to me.

Respect

Where does font 8a come from? Think the blog means F8a into a cruxy roof section. That's certainly how i read it. Not bad for someone who claims to be weak anyway!

Having said that, if it's "only" F8a and then a cruxy roof, that cruxy roof would need to be quite cruxy to make the whole route F8c, yes?? So what sort of V-grade would we be talking??

All a very good effort, and further confirming his world class status.

From similar (though easier) routes in the UK, probably no harder than Font 7c, if that.

It depends upon the 8a, of course. A bouldery 8a would need a much harder boulder problem atop it to bring the grade up that much, whereas you're going to have much less power left at the end of a really pumpy 8a...

Good effort Steve - thoroughly deserved!

TOTAL FUCKING LEGEND

Quite. An inspiring and incredible climber.

Didn't he nearly flash true north ages ago, or is that a figment of my imagination?

Aye, not far off. I was watching or belaying. Can't remember exactly how close, but it was only a couple of moves off. Amazing stuff steve.

what's 8a.nu talking about?

100% pure undiluted bullshit nibs, as always. God I hate that site. I really do.

Maybe there is some vegetation integral to the route, it wouldn't be unheard of (wasn't there a fuss about some tree getting chopped down at some crag or other a while ago cos' it was the start to a route?). Possibly why Steve is reticent about joining the "8c OS club". but i doubt he or anyone else will be crying themselves to sleep about what the fuckwits on there think.

I am embarrassed to death from the fact that the guys behind 8a.nu are from Sweden, my land of origin.
