it's 2 weeks to fatherhood for me, (yours when?) so thinking a nice spring day might be better. particularly on the techier stuff on ranger. any more for any more? it could be a right larf.

I'll pencil in a note to sort it out then. A date and a time. I'm pretty keen to ride it again.

I'd be up for a push up/ride down type thing on the DH bike.

Depending on the date and if I get a broken brake fixed in time I'd be up for it.

How techie does the ranger path get? I've got down Cave Dale alright.

reasonably techie. there's one bit i seem to remember that would be pretty tricky to clean near the bottom of the steep bit, but i was strapped up with camera gear. it's just really good fun.

I would highly recommend it, day or night.  Awesome fun.

The tarmac bit is steep but not a problem, after that there are periodically bits that need a push because they're too rocky, after the half-way hut there is a big carry section up to the bridge under the railway line and then a steeeeep section up to the top.

We waited till dark to ride down the way we came and it was all very fast and rocky but very rideable (there was only one off, me, and that was because it was a bit wet on one of the rock sections immediately after the first bridge).

Having walked up the Ranger trail, a night ride down would be a bit trickier but in the day it would be great fun.  Don't forget, cycling is banned between 9 or 10am until 5pm between 1st May and 30th September.  Any other time then you're free to ride anytime but there tend to be a lot of walkers until it starts getting dark.
