May have the chance to visit SA next year around march/ April. Think it might be a little on the hot side, any advice or info on planning a trip gratefully received  ;)

Thanks for those. Was also looking on some weather advice had a look at the average temps and rainfall but they vary quite a lot from site to site. Ranging from definitely worth a go to insanely hot and humid at the end of march beginning of april. Has anyone been at this time of year ?

I went there last April and oh boy! it was hot (about middle of the month). Managed to climb a bit, in the middle of the day for some reason, but the heat was my abiding memort. Being in the southern hemisphere, water goes down the plug 'ole the wrong way, the sun travels left to right and the closer to Christmas the hotter it will be.

In short, pack your sun cream.

Not their spring, but been in their autum (oct) and it was ridiculously hot. We were very lucky and arrived just as as storm front had passed, which dropped temps considerably and made for cool windy temps for a day or so, but it soon climbed up again.

All depends on

1) Your tolerance to heat and humidity
2) What grades you want to be doing
3) whether you are up for doing the early morning climb / midday siesta / evening climb combination.

The bouldering around Cape Town gets more sea breeze and sea regulates temps, but it's not as good. Still some pretty good stuff though, and CT is a great city.

Shurely, being the wrong way up, October is their spring - and April is their Autumn??

Worth noting that Rocklands has stuff that faces all directs, and stuff that isn't too conditionsy.

I'm confused. Their spring then, our autumn.

Definitely lots of less conditions dependant stuff in the lower grades, and rock is generally less conditionsy (is that a word) than say font or grit.

I have bouldered in the Wolfberg area in Dec/ Jan before, but was more acclimatised to heat in those days

Cheers again for the info. Think i may well decide to hang on to a few hundred quid until conditions are better, so maybe another year. When is best ?

 :agree:

I made the mistake of going for February and March a few years back

Some of the walk ins nearly floored me cos of the ridiculous heat. Once at the boulders, there was still plenty to do that was in the shade and needless to say there was never anyone else around. If I was to go back it would definately be in their winter.
