I've never seen the "Unread Posts", but the "Unread Posts Since Last Visit" behaves as you describe (the last visit being defined as the last time you looked at unread posts).

I also find that if I've viewed the site on different computers I sometimes miss a few when I switch to another using this method (presumably as the forum software is thinking I've read everything at computer A then when on Computer B threads I didn't actually read aren't shown as being unread).

What I'm saying is it doesn't display new posts since last visit when I've been offline (ie its not ronseal) even when not connecting on a different computer, which it used to a week ago

That is strange, best do a re-install of Windows, that'll sort it  ;)

You're not logged in on both the home pc and the net book are you? And the 'dedicated media pc'?

I used to get this problem as I had UKB as my homepage and every time Lee or the shortie opened firefox it registered as a visit.

Yeah, sometimes it gets in a twist if you're logging in from two locations.

I'll optimize the sessions table and see if that helps - might be a dead session from another PC messing things up.

If that doesn't work then make sure you're logged out everywhere, do a ctrl-f5 refresh and even delete cookies as a last resort.

Do a fresh install of Windows on all your pcs, that'll sort it. Only takes ten minutes.

probably something to do with this, have just re-installed on both main pc and netbook and a new rom on the phone, never bother browsing from the HTPC but I will be re-installing on that as I made some undoable changes to the system relating to codecs that I now need to undo

anyway seems to be working again. Cheers Mike  :beer2:

If anyone else does fairly regular install's on their PC cos they like messing about with the like I do  then its definately worth getting a small memory stick and putting your OS on that (only if your motherboard allows booting from USB of course), much quicker than from CD or DVD. Lots of guides on interweb
