New series of Pyschoville started last night. Brilliant dark comedy from the men behind The League of Gentleman.

If you have sky player online, and the movie package, then you can watch 'Tormented' like I just did.

It has a pretty basic storyline, isnt exactly mind taxing but contains loads of blood and grizzly deaths.
It isnt an oscar winner by a long way but I found it kinda enjoyable.

If you enjoyed Skins season one then you may well enjoy the way it pokes fun at an exaggerated youth.
If you didnt enjoy skins...then it may well not be for you.

Spiral on BBC4 All 12 episodes available, the one above is the first.
This has been gripping over the last few weeks, a Parisian answer to The Wire if you caught that. A Mexican serial killer, Albanian pimps, random nutters,  corruption in high places, dodgy lawyers and police infighting - what more do you want? Subtitles? -Yep  them too.
Brilliant.

If you've not seen his Summer Heights High I can highly recommend it, its pure genius, really needs watching from the start, but Chris Lilley is brilliant as each of the characters he plays...

Haven't watched them yet and have been meaning to.

Bit of a no-brainer to me though.  Its considered "humane" to put animals down (pets, livestock and wild animals) when their perceived quality of life diminishes but not a fellow human being who has made that choice themselves.

Indeed. In that respect the Newsnight program is probably more important as it provides some good points I hadn't thought about, particularly regarding he safeguarding of the vulnerable and the poor.
For example, Liz Carr's point that those facing a lifetime of bills for hospices etc may choose Dignitas rather than "burden" their families with the cost. And where is the line drawn? Available to those only with terminal illnesses or open to those with incurable illnesses or even to people who are fit and healthy but who consider themselves to enduring "unbearable suffering" through emotional problems? Dignitas market that as those who are "weary of life". It doesn't sit well with me that they should be able to commit suicide but then, as Pratchett accurately points out, if they are hell bent on committing suicide anyway and will simply do it themselves then Dignitas avoids the possibility of it being botched, saves the Police one of their more unpleasant responsibilities and affords the person in question a painless end.

Clearly the law needs to change, but how?

Yeah, great watches, and great show by the Chemical Brothers. But could someone in the know tell me this: during their tunes, Star Guitar say, which sounds to me like what's on the CD in many ways, what are they at with the knobs etc? Is it just like at a party when you think "Tune! Fucking turn it up", or are they doing something else. Have they got Tesco website up, ordering toilet roll and are just keeping themselves busy. To be perfectly honest (I've been to their gigs) I'd be perfectly happy if that's all they're doing while just providing a bit of interest for the eye as it's the music and light show you're there for mainly, but I just wondered.

I had a friend who was into DJing, and he was okay at it, but there were times he just stuck a C90 with the Breezeblock on it, or an Essential Mix, and just messed around with his records. Even though I knew, it was still miles better than either a)  his DJing, or b) just having a C90 on the stereo, so I was perfectly happy. So were the partyers, until Mary Anne Hobbs or pete Tong started over the speakers: "You're listening to the, ah, Essential Mix with me... "

They purportedly play it live, winging track selection, beeps, bleeps and samples.

Similar with Leftfield and Orbital too, although the former have live vocalists for some tracks.

All three are brilliant live, the audio-visual setups being superb and the key to their performances.

I guess to the uninitiated a drum machine looks a lot like a sampler looks a lot like a sequencer looks a lot like a mixer. Basically they'll be creating the music live, ie playing a drum pattern/ sample, looping it then adding a keyboard riff, looping it etc. It doesn't look amazing but in many ways there's a lot more to do, and to go wrong than when just standing with a guitar.

A gem from last night. He comes across as a quite sad, lonely old man who likes to dress as a nazi in his spare time, and who's not living in the kind of luxury you'd expect for someone with his back catalogue (though he's doing OK, so maybe he's just got simple tastes).
