Ah Joe. I get the sentiment but you're wrong.

The cunts involved at the top level of sport are certainly that but the fantastic thing that transcends all that is the look on your son's face when he goes to a football/cricket match for the first time.

Or when you go totally crazy and hug each other and loads of random fans when Brighton beat Leeds in the last minute at Elland Road (having missed the first goal because he needed a wee).

The World Cup has been horribly sullied by FIFA but it remains and always will remain as the best tournament in sport (well apart from the Ashes or the Ryder Cup) and something even they can't remove the magic from.

If you prefer watching someone bake a fucking cake then good luck to you.

Should my son ever show any interest in football he will be placed in a home.
Both football and cake baking programs are part of the elite's "bread and circus' conspiracy, I watch neither. The boy and I are off to the park to feed ducks; with dried cake.

After hearing Chris Hawkins raving about this film / docu this morning I thought I'd check it out;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04jmx7l

Marvellous is possibly one of best films I've seen for a long while. A heart warming, funny, at time almost unbelievable, but all true tale of an exceedingly charming gent who refused to be labelled with having learning difficulties.

The story of Neil Baldwin, there's only one Neil Baaaaaaalldwin!

Fill your boots, only 7 days left on iPlayer to watch it.

I was at Keele in the 90's and Neil was a regular at the evening 5 a side league. The old school bouldering wall was (probably still is) in the same room and you would often hear him coaching and heckling from the seats just behind the wall.
There was a tournament at the end of each year and a team of Stoke City legends would usually turn up and play for Neil. And teach all the student teams a football lesson.

Wonderful film.

For all the fans of Marvellous, I've really been enjoying The Detectorists. Same lead actor, but also joined (and directed by McKenzie Crook) I've found it a great quintessentially British comedy ;

Will probably be having a re-watch of this tonight, with a new score by Zane Lowe. The original soundtrack by Cliff Martinez was fantastic, great on long car journeys, so it'll be interesting to see what a re-working with various artist brings to the feel of the film;

It's only on player for another 3-4 hours but watching 'Drive' but with the soundtrack 're-covered' by Radio1. Good film, good tunes (so far)

Having not seen Drive - that was great. No idea if the tunes were anything like what went before but yeah, suited it.

I couldn't remember the original (which was good) and loved the version last night... A cool idea!

I've been watching this the last two nights and also really enjoyed it. It makes me feel strangely peaceful.

In my head, I kept imagining a 70s Shaft type soundtrack, the cars I guess.

Kavinsky (Nightcall) used during the intro and Chromatics (Tick of the clock) being the stand outs from the origial score, brilliant music.

I missed the re-score, anyone know if it's been saved anywhere else?

Quite interested to see the original at some point. I'm guessing that the been have reworked other stuff too - simple concept that could very easily go wrong or just as likely, paint a very different picture. Thanks to whoever linked it in.

The music on the original is amazing. I decided against watching the rescored version because of this.

Same here. I think the music was integral to the orginal film.

I agree, but think that's part of what made it an interesting project - more interesting than restoring a film where the music wasn't so important, at least.

it would've been more interesting to see them ADD in a score to a film which didn't have a soundtrack, usch as No Country for Old Fellas. Can change the entire feel in an instant, see:

Radio 4 series Tommies

I've caught the odd 20 mins of several episodes, but plan to listen to the whole lot

something about the additional narration that pulls the drama together for me - historical facts and plot related stuff

all episodes available
