Dot-matrix printer, although its a a little more pricey than I'd have expected so doesn't fit the remit :o

More seriously its no doubt over-kill, but the all-in-ones can be had pretty cheap, you get ripped off on printer cartridges for almost every brand/model I've ever owned.  I've a HP 6310 office all-in-one that sits on the network (cabled, not wireless) fine.

Sorry thats not much help.

cheers, I've seen that printers are very cheap these days and the biggest cost is the ink. I used to get epson cadridges from bowlers for £1.50 each but I don't even know if its still going and I'm not paying £4 to get in to buy some cheap ink. Anyone got some online sources for cheap ink?

I'd go for a mono laser Jim. I picked up a colour Xerox laser for £80 that came with a free 5000 page black toner iin addition to what was in in the printer. Plugs into my router and works well.

Following on from the above printer request, I'm after one of they scanner/printer combi affairs. Been surfing about loads but most user comments on pages like Amazon are useless, e.g. "I bought this printer and it matches my cats eyes so 5 stars", or "I plugged the printer in but the computer said it couldn't see it, even when I turned them to face each other - 1 star".

Looks like a toss up between Epson - cheap build quality and thirsty but cheaper cartridges and takes non Epson ones. Or HP, better build quality but more expensive HP cartridges.

Any knowledge greatly appreciated.

Got some more details on that please? Mate was asking for recommendations for a network laser printer and that sounds like it's the dogs.

Xerox Phaser 6110N was the model but it seems to have increased in price.

Was wandering through the big tesco's in Stockport on friday and they had a stack of HP(I think) wireless printers for c£50-60 - half price according to the label... seemed like a good deal for a wireless one... Probably gone now, but may be worth having a gander.. T
