House insurance is up for renewal, currently with the Halifax because of their pretty good bike cover - 2 bikes covered in garden shed and out & about if they're locked - replacement value about £1600 each.
Anyone use any other house insurers to cover their bikes. The usual sticking point with insurers is a max value of 500 squids or so on the bikes.
The last thing I want to do is phone up insurers and ask them a simple question as they always insist on going through the whole painful quoting process.

just had 2 bikes nicked from garage, Nationwide came up trumps on house insurance, no hassle. they sent us a cheque made out to lbs after we sent 2 quotes for replacements.

none at all, they also accepted a higher value for the extra's i'd put on mine (honest). a very painless process apart from the initial shock of waking up and seeing the garage door half open !! they got in through the back windows, which now have bars across them.

I've got good cover with the Halifax and it's not too pricey.  They ask for pre-existing quotes/receipts for all bikes covered, but I guess they all do that now.

we were with the halifax but they put the premiums somewhat.so the missus found a better deal through john lewis only for the halifax to come back and say they could have matched the price.
just tell them someone else has quoted you cheaper and wait i'm sure they come back with a better offer.

I've just had to change my house insurance.

M&S's seems to have gone up alot & due to the quantity of valuable that included and bike collection we were unable to use Halifax.

However I can recommend Hiscox - although a bit of a specialist company they have worked out considerably cheaper for the combination of house contents / buildings / bike insurance. All the bikes are covered world-wide for virtually every eventuality you could think off. Plus there standard insurance was a lot cheaper than M&S house insurance with the bikes excluded.
