its actually the same route as the photo in the bouldering photo thread, the next hill across from the Tsuen Wan bouldering area (hidden top rope in that pic)

not sure what sort of grade it went at but i hope they leave it unbolted and go head point style (wishful thinking)

these are one of the local guys pics from New Years Day - I was too hung over to make it out that day

checked this out today and, based on the F7b top rope grade, if it were on grit it'd be an E8 - the photo foreshortens it, its about 10-11m high, completely protectionless and with a couple of strategically placed back breaking boulders in the drop zone - think it'll be staying a top rope problem for quite a while to come...

that was back when I was young and brave - living in HK has turned me into a bolt clipping pansy I'm afraid (the only way you'll get me on that thing on the sharp end is after I lug my Hilti up the hillside...)

French style limestone in the middle of China (a mates photo's from Yangshuo) - seems some of the newer developed cliffs look quite nice and I needs me a few long weekends away...

That looks fucking waddage. Churnet topouts 50ft above deep water. Can't get much better than that. Can it?

Incidentally, it doesn't look like you top out on those routes. I presume you get the pocket then just jump? Probably a better option than crawling through the snake infested foliage above, mind you, there's probably freshwater crocs in the water beneath.

Yeah, probably stick to the Churnet after all.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's crocs in the Churnet too. Duncan assures me his cartoon in the guide is "more or less factual".

It can't be factual! That's not to say there are no T-Rexes in the Churnet, just that T-Rexes would be much bigger...

AFAIK all the routes top out. I don't theres too many crocs but there'd certainly be a few snakes in the bush above and maybe the odd hungry White-Pointer that follows the warm current in lol

Around 25 routes (with plenty of easier grades), hardest thing there is about 7c/7c+ with scope for projects. Easy to hire a boat on the cheap from Berowa Waters and at only 45mins drive and short boat ride from Sydney its a must for anyone visiting who's into DWS.
