Best of the bunch from a lovely (although rather crowded!) day at Dovestone Tor above Ladybower/Derwent Reservoir...

Nice.

Yeah, he certainly keeps himself busy!

That line does indeed look very plumb.

I borrowed a mate's copy for about a year and nearly wore the damn thing out! :) Definitely worth going up to the mournes. Binnian North Tor is brilliant, but a bit of a slog to get to (crag is at the top of 750m of hill). Most of the  mournes routes featured in the film are there within about 20m of each other. Great boulderng too. I'm heading up to Fair Head for the first time this weekend, pretty psyched.

This has probably been posted before, but what the hell...

No. Keen to seek out a copy for my viewing pleasure though. I think a mate of mine has a copy I will blag for a while....

got a copy here Dan should you want it.

I wouldn't get too excited about the Mournes, it'll rain. Then rain some more. Then you'll go to Fairhead and it'll rain.

Then you'll go back to the peak district and it'll be a desert.... :-\

Have you had bad experiences up there then Paul? Its no worse than anywhere else.

Its no worse than anywhere else.

And the pubs are far better for when it does rain.

Took the dog up a walk after work, crag is dry, Rathlin Wall bathed in sunlight at the minute. Forecast good for the next few days, tons of midges about though so hopefully the wind will keep up. Not sure what grades your climbing, HVS/E1 Burnup and Hells Kitchen, E2 > skip that and head for The Joker E3, E4 Face Value, E5 Wall of Prey, The Mask etc etc etc. Have a good time.

Oh I'm a punter. Fully expect to get spanked! Going to aim for some stuff around the HVS/E1 level hopefully, but after receiving a major humbling at Pembroke last weekend I've no expectations. Will be moving up to Coleraine in september, so hope to get out there a lot. Anyone based out of Coleraine? Might see you round some time.

Should start at the Prow then, Black Theif, Midnight Cruiser then would take on either BurnUp or Aoife, that would be a good day at the head, Aoife and Burnup would be out of the sun after mid day so temps should be good. I work in Coleraine and live in Ballycastle, not many climbers about the area so you'd a. need a car or b. need a car c. need a car and a shunt to get anything done. Would ask for a wetsuit from Santa and take up surfing cause you'll get more of that done during your term, great surf in the area and not effected by the rain, which does happen now and again round these parts.

  to Facebook  :P

Went to Shining Clough on Saturday, East Rib has to be one of the most photogenic (easy) lines on grit (even though he's on the wrong side of the arete for the route!)...

...and what an absolutely uber-classic route Pisa Superdirect is (shame its in the shade, but that was kind of the reason we went there!  Anyone got an SB-600 they want to sell me  :P)...

A flashgun would do bugger all at that distance.

Nice pics though, Shining Clough is great, must get back up there for Bloodrush...

Cheers JB.

Ah, yes I suppose it is a bit too far, I'd been trying to use the built-in and it made a slight improvement, but still not great (on shots where climber was closer to the ground, see here).

First time up there for me, definitely going to head back to fill in the gaps (that are within my capabilitiies).

My experiences with flash in those kind of situations is that it's a lot of hassle for an unnatural result. It is useful for fill-in, but that is limited to filling the harsh shadows on, say, a sunlit climber's face, rather than an entirely unlit area.

That doesn't look too bad, he's got a thumb sprag on the rope and is bridging against the Nose.

Mike Tweedy on Dalriada

Not quite as good as Cubby's pic of Dave Mac on it, but still good.
