cover versions that are better than the originals....

Tainted Love by Marilyn Manson (orginal by Soft Cell)

Great as Soft Cell's version is, it was about 20 years late to be the original (and best)

Oh please!   That Stevie Ray Vaughan version of Voodoo Child is utter nonsense besides Jimmy's.

Here's one for you to argue about

I like Kraftwerk, but sonically this is much more exciting than the original

Afghan Whigs (anybody? anybody? Thought not...) - Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe:

This fella's pretty handy covering 'Africa' by Toto and all:

...and while we're on youtube nobodies, Matt Weddle covers 'Hey Ya' by Outkast:

cover versions that are better than the originals....

Mad World by Gary Jules (orginal by Tears for Fears)

Take on Me by Reel Big Fish (orginal by A-Ha)

Tainted Love by Marilyn Manson (orginal by Soft Cell)

EPIC FAIL

Have to agree with Houd on these. Was going to pick out the first two in particular. That Gary Jules cover is muck in comparison to the TFF original and how can you improve on Take On Me? You can't so leave it alone.

Good thread though.  :)

Heard this the other day. The Kelly Clarkson cover fits the bill.

I woke this morning to The Fall covering the old Sister Sledge song Lost in Music which was somewhat bizarre to say the least. Youtube is unfortunately not giving up the goods.

Not having any sound at work I don't know if this is the right thing or not, but it should be.
