Bouldering in Sweden - Linkoping
May 30, 2009, 02:06:47 pm
Im moving to Linkoping at the end of july / start of august and am trying to find out about climbing n bouldering in the area.

I keep coming across references to knutby or knutstorp for bouldering just outside linkoping but while i can find info on routes i cant find anything about the location.

Does anyone have any more information about this or any other climbing in the area?

Cheers.

Boyreid.

Runt http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=227 lives in Sweden, and is a nice guy. If you pm him, he might be able to help.

Hi boyreid,
I live in Linkoping and have made a couple of topo:s covering the bouldering in the area around here. They are free of charge, just give me a call when you get here (0703-137368). Most of the bouldering is around the town of Bjorsater (Björsäter) a few km south east of Linkoping:
-Knutstorp (aka Knutby) has about 200 problems from 4 up to 7c+/8a (N 58º 21.390' , E 015º 55.955')
-Höversby has about 50 problems from 4 to 8a ( N 58º 23.115',  E 016º 01.741')
-Björsäter might be a bit mossy now adays but has some really nice lines to offer. About 600 problems from 3 to 7b ( N 58º 19.487',  E 016º 02.939')

If you fancy grades of 7c and above I would also recommend going to Västervik (about 1 h south east of Linkoping) where you will find a lot of them. Some featured in the movie "Swedish Meatballs".

For rope climbing you can find topo:s at http://linkopingsklatterklubb.se/index.php/klippor.html. Solvik and Ågelsjön are highly recommended.

cheers /Stefan Holm
