Very dank out in the Peak today. No wind and bits of drizzle

Just got in. Thanks for the help. Decided to head south, around matlock was ok, mistiness had lifted around 2ish when I arrived everything dry but very humid. Stopped off at the eastern edges on the way home and they'd dried out and pretty good conditions.

I can see that stuff has been logged on UKC for today but not sure if it was from another’s days climbing. Looks like a wall of clag from home (where I can normally see Houndkirk Moor to get an idea of cloud levels) so I’d be surprised if it was ok. Did anyone go out ?

I’ve not been out, but the Matlock quarries can be a good option in this weather.

Was damp and a bit drizzly this morning at our workshop in Matlock. It dried up in the afternoon, but stayed still and overcast. Driving back up the hill only a mile away, damp and drizzly again with the road and walls wet. So seems to be quite localised but I'd be aiming low and South (what JB said) , if at all.

Anyone wanting to take a bet on best locations today? Or anyone out in the peak with a solid report?

A few spots of drizzle on the windscreen as I drove round the back of Gardoms. Dry grit around Matlock area but no wind and feels greasy. I’ll probably bail to Stoney

Misty and wet at stanage this morning
Sounds like Rivelin, Wharncliffe and low lying South Peak the best options at the moment
Monday looks mint…when I’m back at work

Never seen so may people at Rivelin!

Still dry in S11 but some encouraging texture in the sky to the west.

Not sure this is the same for everyone, or based on where you live, but the current backdrop on the metoffice website is a view from Stanage Plantation. If that isn't a sign I don't know what is! See the picture without all the metoffice bumpf here: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/hero-images/2024/autumn/1280x503.jpg

Quite a bit of dry rock at Froggat today.
Oedipus wall was dry.
Browns slab and DHR dry.
Tody's wall was clean, dry and grippy.
Plenty of climbable stuff on the top boulders - snow and ice on top though.

Thanks for the update! Anyone get out elsewhere in the Peak? Thinking of having a look on Friday, but unsure where yet.

Awesome to get that update! Thanks so much! I was planning on going there tomorrow but was slightly apprehensive that it might be covered with snow/melt-water.

Less sunshine tomorrow, so should be less chance of melty drops landing on you or your holds

Drove over the ringinglow about ten this morning. Very icy in places but passable with care in any car.

Crags looked properly mint, most of the rock dry and snow free. Bitterly cold in the north-westerly breeze.

Thanks JB. Fingers crossed it stays cold enough today and overnight for Friday to be good.
