Was thinking of heading to the stride this afternoon.  Anyone able to predict if it will be any good? Ta

Wet this morning until 10 at Black Rocks but clear now and a bit of a breeze.  If it stays dry it might be okay at Stride, suspect other local options like bits of Stanton Moor would be dry.

Plantation had some mint conditions at sunset tonight but a lot still wet. Should be good tomorrow but if these north-easterlies persist most of the eastern edges will be sheltered and therefore reliant on sun to dry.

Frosty at the plantation this morning. Most flat holds have a layer of frost that is melting noww but will take a while to dry. Reckon itll be mint by about 12.

T shirt weather in the sun at Curbar. Ok connies in the sun at the moment but will probably get too hot soon. Getting busy. Watch the road if you visit - half ice.

Crazy scenes on the hill (the road) as I left - people parked all the way down the hill (and around the corner) - uphill side was icy, so people getting stuck but idiots ploughing down hill at full speed. Not seen it that bad on a summer bank holiday weekend...

Was up at Curbar, decent enough nick on Sean's/WOB mid afternoon. Everything else looked a touch damp but nothing a brisk wind won't resolve.

Any thoughts on where might be climbable tomorrow if current levels of clag and lack of wind continue?

Grim at Burbage when I went for a walk earlier though had a closer look at Remergence and it was climbable though I didnt pull on.

It's pretty gloomy in S11, but it's the driest morning we've had all week and there's a decent breeze. Roofs and walls dry.

Up at curbar right now. Bit misty bit rock is bone dry. Great conditions. Suspect most of the scrittle will be great today.

Get out of bed and get outside!!

:sorry: to be a pain but looking for some advice from the locals!

I was hoping to head up to the Peak from Cornwall for the weekend Fri, Sat and Sun but only if its going to be worth it.

Have had a look at the forecast which look pretty poor, shall I sack it off now and try and find somewhere else or does anyone think it will be worth the drive!

Thanks in advance Macca

Friday and saturday look breezy and dry so you might get away with it. Probably need to pick your venue on the friday to get somewhere thats not damp as today to thursday looks pretty moist. Sunday looks pretty rubbish. Long way to come on a marginal forecast I'd say.

Absolutely shitting down with snow in Sheffield and has been all morning. Melting as soon as it hits the floor, but not sure whats happening up higher on the edges.  Forecast to continue for the next couple of days.  If its sticking then there may be some good snowballing conditions, but somehow, I think it looks as though its just going to be horrible slushy wet conditions, which doesn't look like its going to lend itself to primo conditions.   :(

The big snowballing drifts have all tended to come from blizzards in NE'ly airflow. They tend to be colder and all the snow blown across the moors drops into the lee of the edges. NW'les like this just tend to plaster the rock with wet snow.

Thanks all for the input!

As I suspected I don't think I can justify the drive!

Another weekend of wandering around damp woods here we come!

Cheers Macca

Any update on how things are looking for the weekend? Guessing there's lots of snow, is it wet or will stuff be dry under it? Aiming for plantation, but other suggestions considered...

Lots of wet snow. Temps have been up and down a bit. Higher edges will be a gamble but so will most places. Rivelin?
